Christchurch · Shopify Partner since 2017

Move to Shopify without breaking your business.

We migrate Christchurch businesses from WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and legacy platforms onto Shopify — keeping your SEO, customer data, order history, and revenue intact. Shopify Partner since 2017.

Migrating to Shopify isn't just copying products across.

Most agencies will copy your products, slap on a theme, and call it done. Two months later you find out half your URLs return 404s, your Google rankings have collapsed, your customer accounts didn't transfer, and your historical order data is gone.

A proper Shopify migration handles SEO redirects (every old URL pointing to the right new one), customer account migration with passwords intact, complete order history, payment gateway transitions without losing recurring subscriptions, and the dozens of small NZ-specific details — GST setup, shipping zones, NZ Post integration — that overseas devs miss.

We've done this work before. We know where the landmines are.

Migrating from any of these? We've got you.

Why Christchurch businesses choose Dori Media for migrations.

Christchurch heritage tram on the City Tour route

We run e-commerce ourselves.

Dori Media operates Jimny Rentals NZ — including its Shopify store, shop.jimny.co.nz. We build stores knowing exactly what matters when revenue's on the line.

We solve the hard parts.

Custom shipping logic, complex inventory rules, multi-currency, app conflicts, broken redirects. The technical work most agencies subcontract or quietly avoid, we do in-house.

We're here, not in Auckland or Sydney.

Christchurch-based. Available for in-person meetings. Working in your timezone, understanding your market.

We stay on the hook.

As your Shopify Partner of record, we're invested in the lifetime of your store — not just until the invoice clears. Migration is the start of the relationship, not the end of it.

Stacked shipping boxes in a warehouse — representing carrier and fulfilment logic

Great Range Products

Problem
A growing Shopify store needed carrier-calculated shipping logic that no off-the-shelf app could deliver — multiple weight tiers, regional rates across NZ, oversized item rules, and accurate quotes at checkout.
Solution
We built a custom Shopify carrier-calculated shipping integration that handles every rule the standard apps couldn't, working directly with their carriers' rate tables.
Outcome
Accurate shipping quotes at checkout. Reduced support load from incorrect shipping charges. Fewer abandoned carts at the shipping step.

Jimny Rentals NZ Shop (shop.jimny.co.nz)

Problem
An outdated Shopify store running off-brand visuals, with legacy "closing down" messaging still showing months later, and no clear path connecting the merch store back to the main rental brand.
Solution
Full visual rebuild aligned to Jimny Rentals' brand identity. Custom "How it Works" section. Removed legacy content. Integrated with the wider Jimny Rentals ecosystem so customers move smoothly between rental and merch.
Outcome
A store that finally looks and feels like part of the brand. Ready to sell merchandise to Jimny's existing customer base.

Adam — Dori Media

About Adam

Hi, I'm Adam.

I'm Adam — Christchurch born and raised, running Dori Media since 2010.

Over the past 16 years I've built websites and Shopify stores for everyone from Fonterra and other large NZ brands down to local Canterbury businesses just getting started. Same care either way.

I've built and sold Shopify stores over the years, and I run shop.jimny.co.nz for my own business Jimny Rentals NZ. So when I'm working on your store, I'm building it the way I'd build my own.

If you're a Christchurch business owner who wants to do Shopify properly — no agency fluff, no offshored dev work, no surprises — let's talk. Wherever you are in Canterbury, I'm happy to come and have a coffee.

Common questions about Shopify migrations.

Most migrations take 4–8 weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on catalogue size, complexity of redirects, and any custom functionality. Simple stores can move faster; complex ones with subscriptions or thousands of SKUs take longer. We give you a fixed timeline after the discovery call.

Not if it's done properly. We map every old URL to its new equivalent, set up 301 redirects, preserve metadata and structured data, and submit a new sitemap to Google. Some short-term flux is normal; permanent ranking loss is a sign of a rushed migration.

Yes. Customer accounts (with password resets), order history, customer notes, and tags all transfer across. Some platforms have technical limits — we'll explain exactly what carries over and what doesn't before we start.

Standard payment methods (Stripe, PayPal, Afterpay, etc.) reconnect on Shopify without issue. Active subscriptions are trickier and depend on the source platform — we'll audit your subscription setup early in the project and plan the transition carefully.

Christchurch is our primary focus and where in-person meetings happen. We do take projects from elsewhere in NZ — and the occasional Australian one — when the project's a strong fit.

Most of our migration projects sit between $5,000 and $15,000 + GST, depending on scope. We give you a fixed quote after the initial 30-minute call — no hourly billing surprises.

We stay on as your Shopify Partner of record, available for ongoing tweaks, feature additions, and support. Many clients move to a small monthly retainer after launch; others come back project-by-project.
